Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

John Perry

Question:

486 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 198 of 8 November 2000, he will ensure that a person (details supplied) is offered employment in Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1681/01]

The Civil Service Commission has not been in a position to make an assignment to Sligo from the competition in question which was for vacancies primarily in the Dublin area. The candidate has been assigned to the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs in Dublin. If she accepts the assignment, she may, on taking up duty, apply for consideration for transfer to Sligo at a later stage, whenever her placing on the relevant transfer list is reached.

It is expected that, in the coming weeks, the Civil Service Commission may advertise an open competition for clerical officer positions in, for instance, Sligo as well as a competition reserved for former civil servants for clerical officer positions in various locations to be determined.
