Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Currency Transactions.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

487 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the fact that some banks require customers seeking to change one non-Irish euro currency to another euro currency first require the customer to change into Irish punts; if he considers that this is a fair and acceptable practice, having regard to the extra commission that will be charged when transactions are conducted in this way; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1817/01]

I have no function in this matter. I will ask the Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs to take up with the banks the point raised by the Deputy.
