Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

513 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the position in respect of discussions within his Department or with others in respect of the identification of a site for and the provision of a Garda station at Leixlip, County Kildare; if his attention has been drawn to the deep concern in the local community at the continued delay with the finalisation of this issue, with particular reference to identification of a specific date within which the station will be provided. [2599/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 499 and 513 together.

Two sites, one in the vicinity of Leixlip RC church and the other adjacent to the main street, are under consideration for the provision of a new Garda station at Leixlip. Discussions are ongoing with the owners of both sites. I can assure the Deputy that my office is doing everything possible to bring this matter to a speedy conclusion and will continue to do so.
