Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Domestic Violence.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

525 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Health and Children the proposals he has to increase the funding allocation to the South East Regional Planning Committee on Domestic Violence in view of a submission (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1025/01]

The provision of services for women victims of violence in the South Eastern Health Board region is a matter, in the first instance, for the South Eastern Health Board. These services, in the main, take the form of rape crisis services and also refuge accommodation for women victims of violence and their children. I have made substantial additional funding available to the health boards for 2001 for women victims of violence which should result in a considerable improvement to the these services.
