Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

Michael Ring

Question:

555 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason the Western Health Board is refusing to help a person (details supplied) in County Mayo under the special housing aid for the elderly scheme; the further reason this person was told he would have to wait until 2003 at the earliest for his application for heating to be considered; and if he will have investigations made into this matter and report in due course. [1221/01]

As the Deputy is aware, the housing aid scheme for the elderly in the Mayo area is administered by the Western Health Board on behalf of the Department of Environment and Local Government. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate this matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
