Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Michael Ring

Question:

556 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is being refused orthodontic treatment by the Western Health Board as a private orthodontist says she needs treatment at the cost of approximately £2,500; the way in which this difference has occurred; and if he will give the details of the health board's assessment of this case. [1222/01]

As the provision of orthodontic services to eligible persons in County Mayo is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board, I have asked the chief executive officer of that board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
