Bíonn an Rialtas i dteagmháil go minic le Rialtas na Breataine faoin bpóilíneacht agus faoi ghnáthshocruithe slándála i dTuaisceart Éireann. Tá na cainteanna a bhaineann leis na ceisteanna sin i gcás íogair ag an bpointe agus (mar a dúirt mé cheana) ní bheadh sé oiriúnach dom labhairt faoi mionphointí na gcainteanna ag an am seo.
We have had detailed discussions at both ministerial and official level on the Policing (Northern Ireland) Bill as it progressed through its various stages. In the course of the legislative process, substantial improvements were made to the Bill which passed into law on 23 November last. However, the parties continue to have concerns on some aspects of the new Police Act, 2000. We have also had detailed discussions on the draft revised implementation plan. We are working constructively with the British Government and the parties to resolve the outstanding issues.
Our efforts are directed at building on the improvements that have been achieved and providing the necessary reassurance that the vision and values of the Agreement and of the Patten Commission will lie at the heart of the policing project.
