Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Nursing Home Subventions.

Paul McGrath

Question:

702 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has had discussions with an organisation (details supplied); whether the new nursing home subvention rates of £90, £120 and £150 will come into effect from 1 April 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2115/01]

I understand my colleague, the Minister for Health and Children, met the organisation referred to by the Deputy last November during which a number of issues were discussed, including the level of nursing home subvention. The views of this organisation, together with those of other interested parties, were fully considered in arriving at decisions in relation to the nursing home subvention scheme.

As I already informed the Dáil on 7 December last, the new nursing home subvention rates of £90, £120 and £150 will come into effect on 1 April next.
