Question:

722 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of instances of scarlet fever that have been notified to his Department in the past five years; if he has any evidence that there is an increase in the instances of scarlet fever, particularly in the north County Dublin area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2279/01]

Scarlet fever is not a notifiable disease under the Infectious Diseases Regulations. My Department, therefore, has no information on the incidence of the disease in Ireland.

723 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of instances of tuberculosis that have been reported; the location of each incident in the years 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2280/01]

The number of cases of tuberculosis reported by each health board in the years 1997 – 1999 and in the period up to 30 September, 2000 is as follows:
