Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Bernard Allen

Question:

741 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will have investigations made into the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has been told he would have to wait six months to have a fitting for a hearing aid; and the further reason there is only one person working on a fitting procedure in the Cork area. [2455/01]

Up to June 2000 aural services were provided by the National Rehabilitation Board – NRB. Following the dissolution of the NRB, the Northern Area Health Board took over responsibility for the service pending its transfer to individual health boards.

I have asked the Northern Area Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
