Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - House Prices.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

762 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will give a breakdown on the recent purchase by the Simon Community in County Galway of three houses; the purchase of another house by another organisation; the breakdown of the total cost of those houses; and a breakdown in each case on the purchase price of the house, all other expenses incurred in the purchase and the cost of refurbishment. [30585/00]

I assume that the question refers to housing being provided by the Simon Community with the assistance available for the provision from my Department of housing accommodation by approved voluntary housing bodies under the capital assistance scheme.

My Department's involvement relates primarily to the provision of funds for individual projects within the allocation available and the detailed administration of the scheme, including details of approval costs incurred, is the responsibility of the local authority, in this instance Galway Corporation.

I understand from Galway Corporation that the total cost of the three most recent projects by the Simon Community in Galway, including purchase and refurbishment, amounts to £1,120,000. Without the details of the other organisation concerned, it is not possible to provide the information sought.
