867 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of occasions on which viruses occurred in incoming e-mails in his Department in the past 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2543/01]
My Department has extensive firewall and virus checking measures in place. Over the past 12 months there have been no occasions on which viruses occurred as a result of incoming e-mails in my Department.
868 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of occasions on which hackers have attempted to breach his Department's e-mail security in the past 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2558/01]
All my Department's information technology systems, including e-mail that have a potential exposure to hackers are protected by security measures such as firewalls, which are maintained and updated as required. My Department has no knowledge of any attempts by hackers to breach that security.
