Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Sale of Estate.

John McGuinness

Question:

969 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if her attention has been drawn to the sale of Ballinacor estate; if her Department has a role in protecting the future of the estate; if the State is interested in purchasing the property; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2414/01]

I am aware that Ballinacor estate is currently on the market. My Department is concerned to secure the future conservation status of those elements of the estate which are of conservation interest, but there are a range of mechanisms to address this, which do not involve acquisition. There are no plans at present to seek to acquire all or part of this property for the State.
