Question:985 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will invite all applicants who failed the height requirement criteria for entry into the Garda Sochána since 1997 to reapply for the 2000 garda competition. [30485/00]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 984 and 985 together.
I received the report of the Garda Sochána physical competence test review group last week and am bringing proposals before the Government on the issues addressed by the report.
I should point out that any changes which might be introduced will not affect the current Garda competition approved by the Government in October 2000. The height requirements for that competition are the same as for all competitions run since 1997.
