Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Citizenship Applications.

Tony Gregory

Question:

1033 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if arrangements will be made to progress the citizenship application of a person (details supplied) in view of the tragic circumstances involved. [1646/01]

There is no record in the immigration and citizenship division of my Department of an application for Irish citizenship having been received from the person referred to by the Deputy.

Generally speaking, applications for citizenship are dealt with in chronological order as this is deemed to be the fairest method for all applicants. However, if a case for expediting this application is put to me or my officials at the time the application is being made, it will be considered having regard to the tragic circumstances to which the Deputy refers.
