Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Amalgamation.

Liam Aylward

Question:

1165 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason for the delay in advancing the amalgamation of two primary schools (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; when a decision will be made on the suitability of the site which has already been inspected; and the time scale which his Department envisages for this project should the said site be deemed suitable. [1277/01]

While a preliminary site inspection has been carried out, no decision has been taken to purchase a site for the school in question.

In view of the large number of schools building projects currently being processed by my Department, it is not possible at this point to give any indication as to the timetable for the provision of the facilities. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
