Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Perry

Question:

1186 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress he has made on the extension to Dromore west central national school, County Sligo; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that due to the increased numbers the school has no option but to use the old church as a classroom and use a cloakroom for a remedial classroom; when the extension will be sanctioned; the amount of funding that will be allocated in this regard; the discussions that have taken place in regard to the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1603/01]

My Department is currently processing an application received for additional accommodation from Dromore west national school. The school authorities have been advised that an extension to the existing site is desirable. My Department understands that the school's solicitors are currently dealing with the purchase of a strip of land from an adjoining landowner.

It is not possible at this point to give any indication as to the timetable for the provision of the facilities at the school in view of the large number of school building projects currently being processed by my Department. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
