Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Youth Services.

John McGuinness

Question:

1308 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department has examined a submission from Carlow Youth Services requesting funding for a one-stop youth services information centre; and if the county will be given special consideration. [2444/01]

The application submitted by Carlow Regional Youth Service regarding the establishment of a youth information centre in Carlow received consideration in my Department in 2000 but it was not found possible to accede to the request for funding then having regard to other commitments and available financial resources.

However, a renewed application for funding in 2001 has been submitted to my Department and this application will be given full consideration in the context of available funds for youth work services this year.
