Vol. 529 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Question:

1313 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Education and Science the grants that are given to the Union of Students of Ireland; the controls which apply on this spending; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2500/01]

My Department does not provide ongoing grant aid to the Union of Students in Ireland. However, occasional once-off contributions have been made towards the costs of specific projects, such as conferences or information campaigns. In these circumstances USI is requested to submit a financial statement detailing the total income and expenditure for the project and payment is subject to vouched expenditure.
