Vol. 529 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Michael Ring

Question:

180 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress being made in securing a permanent site for a national school (details supplied) in County Mayo; if the Department has identified a site; if it has been purchased; and the position in this regard in view of the fact that the school only has one year left in its lease. [2697/01]

The property management section of the Office of Public Works, which is acting on behalf of my Department in relation to site acquisitions generally, is in negotiations with a potential vendor regarding the acquisition of a suitable site for the school referred to by the Deputy. It would be not be appropriate to give further details at this stage until the matter has been concluded.

The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
