Question:

170 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the present stage of development in respect of the provision of the extra facilities required at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare; when approval in principle was given; the various stages in the development process already undergone and those still outstanding; when it is expected to commission the facilities for occupation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2883/01]

Stage 4/5 – detailed design and bill of quantities – submissions in respect of the proposed building works at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare, have been received in the building unit of my Department. These submissions are currently being examined.

Upon completion of this examination and providing that they are in order, the question of authorising the project to proceed to stage 6 – tender action and report – will be considered.

The project has already gone through stages 1: site suitability, feasibility, 2: outline sketch scheme, 3: developed sketch scheme and currently combined 4/5: detailed design and bills of quantities. The remaining stages outstanding are stage 6: tender action and report, stage 7: post contract cost control, stage 8: practical completion) and stage 9: final account.

It is not possible at this stage to say when the new accommodation will be ready for occupation.
