Vol. 529 No. 3

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Richard Bruton

Question:

32 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has studied the findings of a survey on the provision for children with specific learning difficulty carried out by the Dyslexia Association of Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1169/01]

I am aware of the survey to which the Deputy refers.

I recently established a task force on dyslexia to review the current range of educational support services available to children with dyslexia and to make recommendations for the future development of services in this area. The findings of the survey to which the Deputy refers have been referred to the task force for consideration.

I understand the task force expects to be in a position to present its report by the end of February 2001.
