Enda Kenny

Question:

92 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the number and proportion of higher executive officers in her Department who progressed to assistant principal in each year from 1988 to 1997; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2843/01]

This Department was established as the Department of Public Enterprise in July 1997. It was previously known as the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications and was set up in January 1993. Prior to that, the sectors for which it is now responsible were under the aegis of two separate Departments, namely, the Department of Tourism, Transport and Communications and the Department of Energy.

For this reason, the information from our current records dates from January 1993 and these are supplied in the following table.
