Vol. 530 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Seán Ryan

Question:

126 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the grants available from his Department which would assist a widow and two children with an income of £120 per week to repair the roof of their house. [3298/01]

There are no grants generally available from my Department for the carrying out of house improvement works. There are, however, targeted options available to assist vulnerable groups, including lower income households, to secure necessary improvement works to their houses, including the essential repairs grants scheme, the task force on special housing aid for the elderly and the scheme of improvement works in lieu of local authority housing. Full details on these options, including application procedures, can be obtained by contacting the relevant local authority.
