Vol. 530 No. 1

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Liz McManus

Question:

112 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Finance the plans he has to carry out remedial works to prevent further flooding at Ferrybank, Arklow, County Wicklow; the form these works will take; the cost and timeframe for completion envisaged; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3290/01]

While my officials have been in contact with officials of Wicklow County Council in relation to the flooding last November in the county, I have not received any formal requests for a flood relief scheme to alleviate flooding at Ferrybank, Arklow, County Wicklow, nor are there proposals at present to implement such a scheme. However, the Office of Public Works is prepared to provide whatever support is requested by the local authority in carrying out its responsibilities to relieve flooding in the Arklow area.
