Question:

54 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the number of applicants to date for the new on-farm investment schemes; the number of applicants who qualified for the schemes to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4249/01]

The new on-farm investment schemes provided for in the National Development Plan 2000-2006 were introduced on 1 February. The schemes involved are the scheme of investment aid for farm waste management, the scheme of investment aid for the improvement of dairy hygiene standards and the scheme of investment aid for alternative enterprises.

As of 12 February, 10 completed applications had been received by my Department under the scheme of investment aid in farm waste management, three under the scheme of investment aid for the improvement in dairy hygiene standards and none under the scheme of investment aid in alternative enterprises.

No grant approval has been issued yet.
