154 Mr. Kirk asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will examine the number of gardaí on checkpoint duty on roads in Ardee, County Louth, with a view to having them increased, particularly for weekend cover; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5062/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the town and environs of Ardee are actively patrolled by gardaí, both day and night, using mobile and foot patrols. I am further informed that local resources are augmented from elsewhere in the district, as the need arises.
