Vol. 531 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Bernard Allen

Question:

162 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education and Science the organisations grant aided under Sub-Head B14, Cultural Scientific and Education Organisations in each of the past years 1998, 1999, 2000 and to date in 200; and the events the grants were allocated in each case. [5020/01]

The purpose of the subhead referred to by the Deputy is to meet the costs of grants-in-aid for general expenses of cultural, scientific and educational organisations. Details of the payments made from 1998 to date are set out in the following table. In general, the funding granted is towards the ongoing operational costs of the organisations involved rather than for specific events. The payment to the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland in 1999 included a special once off grant of £5,000 to assist with their 150th centenary celebrations.
