Vol. 531 No. 1

Written Answers. - Arts Submissions.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

32 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if she has completed her consideration of submissions on the document Towards a New Framework for the Arts; when she will produce an Arts Bill; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4977/01]

I have completed my initial consideration of the 233 submissions received on foot of the document Towards a New Framework for the Arts. I have decided the consultation process would benefit further from more focussed debate among the key players on a number of the main issues that have been raised and discussed in the submissions. I will facilitate this further debate in early March. The conclusions of this focussed debate together with the submissions received will inform me in the development of new legislative proposals for the arts which I intend to bring to Government for consideration before the summer.
