Vol. 531 No. 1

Written Answers. - Designated Areas.

Ulick Burke

Question:

43 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if local authorities were informed or if any discussions have taken place with local authorities in relation to proposed designations within their areas; if not, the reason in this regard; the percentage of each county designated as NHA or SAC; and if Dúchas staff have visited these sites. [4874/01]

My Department has provided the local authorities with site descriptions and maps of SACs and NHAs in their areas. A small number of authorities made informal appeals in relation to individual sites. Most local authorities did not comment.
