219 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason for the extraordinarily long delay in purchasing a site to allow the amalgamation of two primary schools (details supplied) in County Kilkenny to proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7141/01]

A preliminary site inspection has been carried out and a decision will be taken on the site purchase as quickly as possible. The school authorities will be kept informed of developments.
