Question:

229 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in regard to the provision of permanent classrooms and facilities for the north Kildare school project at Ballymakealy, Celbridge, County Kildare; when it is expected that these facilities will be provided and ready for occupation; the process through the various developmental stages in regard to the school over the past three years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Architectural planning for the provision of a new school for the north Kildare school project is progressing satisfactorily. It is not possible to say at this point when construction will commence. The school authorities will be keep informed of developments.

230 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to the provision of permanent facilities at Scoil Uí Riada, Kilcock, County Kildare; the degree to which progress has been achieved in relation to the provision of a permanent site and classrooms for this school in the past three years; his proposal to expedite the process in regard to same at an early date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7203/01]

Gaelscoil Uí Riada is currently accommodated in the former Christian Brothers monastery in Kilcock and it will remain at this location until a new building on an alternative site has been provided.

While architectural planning has been initiated, it is not possible at this early stage to say when construction will commence until the site issue has been resolved and architectural planning has been completed.

231 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress in the past 12 months in regard to the provision of the extra facilities promised at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare; the extent to which the proposed or promised extra facilities are now sufficient to meet requirements; when it is expected to have the works involved completed; when the announcement in respect of the said works was first made; the precise series of events through the various developmental stages since then; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7204/01]

The stage 4-5, detailed design and bill of quantities, submission in respect of the proposed building works at Scoil Dara, Kilcock, County Kildare are currently being examined in the building unit of my Department. Upon completion of this examination and providing that the documentation is satisfactory, the question of authorising the invitation of tenders will be considered.
