Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Naughten – the need for the Minister for Health and Children to extend the scope of his announcement regarding batch 3741 Trivax vaccine to cover other batches of the vaccine which have given rise to the same level of concern regarding their toxicity; (2) Deputy Deenihan – the need to provide a new Garda station at Castleisland, County Kerry; (3) Deputy Browne (Wexford)– to outline the reason for the delay in the appointment of a director of services to the outreach third level facility in St. Peter's College, Wexford; (4) Deputy Ring – the need to sanction funding for the extension to St. Colmcille's national school, Westport, County Mayo; (5) Deputy Upton – the need to provide additional teachers to the Assumption senior girl's school, Walkinstown, Dublin, 12; (6) Deputy Brenda Moynihan-Cronin – the implications for the tourism industry of the current foot and mouth scare and the need for measures to assist the industry through the current difficulties; (7) Deputy Enright – the need for action to reduce the number of people who drive while under the influence of drugs; (8) Deputy Shatter – the need for the Government to take action to prevent female genital mutilation taking place in this State; (9) Deputy Crawford – the urgent need for the Minister for Education and Science to confirm that school trips to outdoor activity centres and trips to England, Scotland and Wales should be cancelled while the threat of foot and mouth is so serious; (10) Deputy McGinley – the need to provide a nursing care unit for Arranmore Island, County Donegal; (11) Deputy Stanton – to expedite the provision of new trains and carriages on intercity lines in order to relieve the overcrowding and to improve facilities experienced by train passengers; (12) Deputy Gerard Reynolds – what plans the Department has put in place to improve the electricity service for the west and north-west of the country and to provide a 220v line to attract industry into the region; (13) Deputy Dukes – the situation in relation to the alleged smuggling here of 8,000 sheep from Northern Ireland to the Republic and the implications of this for our disease free status.

The matters raised by Deputies Crawford, Dukes, McGinley and Moynihan-Cronin have been selected for discussion.
