Vol. 532 No. 3

Written Answers. - Installation Aid Scheme.

Willie Penrose

Question:

99 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the steps which can be taken to assist persons who, on reaching the age of 35 in June 2000 and despite having all the eligibility criteria for participation in an installation aid scheme, cannot participate due to the non-availability of a scheme; if those persons will now qualify for participation in the new qualifying scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7245/01]

A farmer who reaches 35 years of age in June 2000 will qualify for the new installation aid scheme provided that he or she was set up in farming on owned or leased land after 1 January 2000 and before his or her 35th birthday, can furnish proof that some of all of the costs associated with taking over the farm remain to be discharged and also meets the other eligibility conditions of the scheme. If the farmer was set up prior to 1 January 2000 he or she may qualify for aid under the national scheme of installation aid.
