Vol. 532 No. 3

Written Answers. - Superior Court Rules.

Dan Neville

Question:

139 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will contact the Superior Court Rules Committee with a view to having the rules of court amended so that the term Alzheimer's condition, rather than the current term of insanity and of unsound mind, is accepted in completing the necessary papers for making a person a ward of court, as the term cur rently in use is dated and hurtful to families of the patients. [7269/01]

Any amendment to the Rules of the Superior Courts is a matter for the Superior Courts Rules Committee. However, I can inform the Deputy that, in response to similar concerns expressed to me, I have brought this issue to the attention of the secretary of the rules committee.
