Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Business Name.

Charles Flanagan

Question:

125 Mr. Flanagan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her attention has been drawn to the use of a domain name (details supplied) as a business name; if she considers such use in respect of a private company as desirable; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7914/01]

As I indicated in my reply of 13 March 2001 neither the Department nor the registrar has received any correspondence in relation to this matter. I have no views on whether such a name should be registered under the Registration of Business Names Act, 1963. This would be a matter for the registrar to address. However, I understand that he would have concerns about the registration of a business name which primarily consists of the word, Ireland.
