Question:

186 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the amount of overseas aid made available to India over each of the past five years. [8155/01]

Specific details of all countries receiving overseas aid are available in the Ireland Aid annual reports which have been placed in the Oireachtas Library. For clarity, India has received the following amounts over the past five years.

In addition, 40 fellowships were provided for India at a cost of £331,295. To date in 2001, India has received £1,050,000 to support the immediate emergency response effort following the earthquake in Gujarat.
