Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Computer Hacking.

Denis Naughten

Question:

189 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if his Department's computer system or website has been hacked or if an attempt to hack it has occurred in the past three years; if so, when such an incident took place; the measures which have been put in place to protect against hacking; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8184/01]

There are no actual or suspected incidents of this Department's files-information being accessed or targeted by computer hackers. The Department employs a range of security measures to counter potential risks to its IT infrastructure. These are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

As my Department's website is part of the Government website which is the responsibility of the Department of Finance, my colleague, the Minister for Finance, will address that part of the question.
