Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Dan Neville

Question:

224 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a REP scheme appeal will be finalised for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [7600/01]

The outcome of a further review of a decision to impose a penalty for late application was notified directly to the person named by letter dated 16 March 2001. On the same date my Department notified the Deputy of the outcome.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

225 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will consider the payment under the REP scheme to persons (details supplied) in County Galway whose inspection was cancelled due to the foot and mouth disease scare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7657/01]

The persons named applied for their third year REPS payment on 12 February 2001 and the application is at present being processed. Payment will issue in accordance with the protocol on direct payments to farmers, subject to my Department being satisfied that the application is in order.
