Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

303 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make a statement on a newspaper report, which claims that epilepsy waiting times are set to double (details supplied). [7391/01]

The newspaper report referred to by the Deputy relates to services provided at Beaumont Hospital and suggests that waiting times there for epilepsy treatments may double due to the retirement of one of the two consultant neurophysiologists. Service issues relating to Beaumont Hospital are a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority in the first instance. I have, therefore, asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and respond to him directly.
