Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Loss of Blood Samples.

Dan Neville

Question:

329 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make the report of the investigation, led by a senior health service manager, on the loss of blood and other samples available to the family (details supplied) in County Limerick directly concerned. [7571/01]

I understand from the Mid-Western Health Board that the investigation regarding blood samples in respect of the family at Askeaton, County Limerick, was initiated by the chief executive officer following a request from the board at its meeting in November 2000. I have been informed that the report of the inquiry team will be presented to the board at its monthly meeting rescheduled for Friday 23 March 2001. The report of the inquiry team will be given to the family on the date of the board meeting. I also understand that the board has been in direct contact with the family to explain the arrangements.
