Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

334 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Health and Children the date on which the lift at Monaghan General Hospital closed down; when it is expected that it will function again; the reason for the delay in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7596/01]

Responsibility for the maintenance and repair of plant and machinery at Monaghan General Hospital rests with the North Eastern Health Board. I am informed by the board that the lift in question, which is serviced on a regular basis, malfunctioned on 20 February 2001 and was shut down. It became operational again on 6 March 2001 following the removal, repair and refitting of the lift motor that had caused the problem by a local electrical repair company.

I am advised by the board that the repairs were effected as speedily as possible considering the nature and extent of the problem.
