354 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will consider the appointment to Longford - Westmeath Hospital, Mullingar, of a consultant diabetologist in the endorcrinology unit; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7764/01]
On 23 October 2000, the Midland Health Board submitted proposals to my Department for the creation of 21 additional consultant posts, including a post of consultant endocrinologist to be shared between the three board hospitals.
These proposals are being considered by my Department in the light of competing demands and available resources.
