357 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of bed closures in each hospital for each quarter of 2000; the number of bed closures in each hospital for January and February 2001; and the number of bed closures planned in each hospital for the first six months of 2001. The information requested by the Deputy is being collated and I will forward the information as soon as it becomes available.

Given the unprecedented investment now taking place in acute hospital facilities under the national development plan a significant proportion of beds out of use is due to refurbishment work.
