Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Computer Hacking.

Denis Naughten

Question:

447 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if his Department's computer system or website has been hacked or if an attempt to hack it has occurred in the past three years; if so, when such an incident took place; the measures which have been put in place to protect against hacking; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8190/01]

All my Department's information technology systems that have a potential exposure to hackers are protected by security measures such as firewalls which are maintained and updated as required. My Department has no knowledge of any attempts by hackers to breach that security.
