Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Payments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

479 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs when a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 will receive a one parent family allowance; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8244/01]

A claim for one-parent family payment was received from the person concerned on 23 February 2001. Her application is with the local investigator for inquiry in relation to her fulfilment of the statutory conditions of the scheme. As soon as these inquiries are completed, a decision will be made on the claim and the person concerned will be notified of the outcome.

Under social welfare legislation decisions in relation to claims must be made by deciding officers and appeals officers. These officers are statutorily appointed and I have no role in regard to making such decisions.
