Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Children's Playground.

Tony Gregory

Question:

500 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the plans there are for the refurbishment and upgrading of the children's playground in the People's Garden, Phoenix Park, Dublin 7; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8057/01]

The present children's playground in the People's Gardens, Phoenix Park, was constructed in 1990 and is now in need of total renewal. The management plan for the Phoenix Park which was published in 1986 is currently being reviewed and one of the objectives in the revised plan will be renewal of the playground.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that in fact planning for the project is already in the initial stages and various design options are being explored. The project will be implemented as soon as possible thereafter, subject to funds being available.
