Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Computer Hacking.

Denis Naughten

Question:

505 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if her Department's computer system or website has been hacked or if an attempt to hack it has occurred in the past three years; if so, when such an incident took place; the measures which have been put in place to protect against hacking; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [8192/01]

To date, no breaches or attempted breaches of my Department's computer system or website have occurred.

Intrusion detection software is in place in my Department to protect against any attempted breach. This software has worked successfully to date. The software is proprietary third party industry-standard intrusion detection software and is used in many Departments.
