Question:

511 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 105 of 30 January 2001, he will supply information regarding the number of people who went missing here each year since 1980 and to date in 2001; if these figures are available; and if he will supply the figures. [7429/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that details in relation to the number of persons reported missing for the year 2000 are not yet available. These figures are currently being compiled and will be published in the Garda annual report in due course. Details in relation to the number of missing persons to date in 2001 are also not yet available.

I am further informed by the Garda authorities that the number of persons reported missing for each of the years from 1981, when statistics began to be compiled, to 1999, are as follows:
