Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Allowances.

Denis Naughten

Question:

524 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans he has to increase the public service vehicle allowance paid to gardaí in line with allowances paid to other units in the force in view of the increased workload due to the deregulation of taxi licences; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7670/01]

There is a claim for an increase in the public service vehicle inspectors allowance before the Garda Conciliation Council which was established under the Garda Síochána conciliation and arbitration scheme. The proceedings of the council are confidential and it would not be appropriate for me to comment further on the matter.
